My son and I went camping in the Smokies over the last few days. We rode basically all day for 3 days. If you aint been there, I highly recommend it. Especially when the leaves are peaked out like they are now. Not much color on our side but on the NC side...wow!
Here's a few pics and a short video of some sites.

My son having a great time. Notice the crash bar is on the ground. It kinda freaked him out and he picked his right foot off the peg because it came up so high.

When they say unimproved, they mean it. I won't do that again on a cruiser.

Sure, be glad to. I've been camping in the smokies for about 22 years. Usually we take our camper but with the bikes we tent camped. This was kinda last minute so we went light. We stayed in Townsend Tn. at Tremont hills resort. They have tent sites all the way up to full hook ups including sewer and cable tv. The tent section only has water and electric though.

If you're looking for more primitive, you should really check out Elkmont. It's in the park and It has no water, electric, or showers. Only toilet and sink in the bathroom. The upside is it's a beautiful campground and about 1/2 or less the cost of the private ones in the area. There are others spread out from Seveirville to Gatlinburg to Wears Valley. The ones I mentioned I like best though.

We trailered out bikes there along with fire wood and everything else we needed for 4 nights. I'd imagine you could pack a 1 or 2 man tent and some bags on your bike and head out but for me, it's just too far. I can't ride that long and then try to enjoy riding when I got there.

Hope this helps.

Did you run Parson Branch Road from Cades Cove to 129?
Please share if you did!

We did, however I wouldn't exactly call it running. It was a very slow crawl at best. most of it is fairly hard gravel and dirt with potholes but some of it is steep uphill with larger rocks. I wouldn't recommend it for street bikes. The enduros did fine.
